Currently Senior Lecturer at the School of Education and Social Work, University of Dundee. Previously, he was Marie Curie Individual Fellow at the European Network on Independent Living (2017-2019), and Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the Centre for Public Policy Research, King’s College London (2013-2016). Teodor has research expertise and interests in disability studies, disability theory, international social policy, (post)socialism, and critical theory. He is author of Critical Theory and Disability: A Phenomenological Approach (2015, Bloomsbury), and Disability and Postsocialism (2018, Routledge). In the period 2000-2009, Teodor was actively involved in campaigning for disability rights in Bulgaria.
Magda Szarota is a disability and human rights advocate and consultant, disability studies researcher, NGO executive and photographer. She has lived, studied, and worked in Europe, in the U.S., and in Asia. She is considered one of the pioneers of the disabled women's movement in the post-socialist Poland. She serves as a Member of the Board of Humanity in Action Poland; Member of the Steering Committee of the Feminist Alliance for Rights at the Center for Women’s Global Leadership, Rutgers University; a Founding Member of Article 6, a Polish feminist disability rights collective. She is affiliated with the Centre for Disability Research at Lancaster University and the Cross-national Studies: Interdisciplinary Research and Training Program (CONSIRT) at Ohio University. She is a recipient of numerous merit-based scholarships including those awarded by the Kosciuszko Foundation and by the Yale University. Magda co-authored the first shadow report to the UN CRPD Committee about Polish girls and women with disabilities, and successfully advocated on their behalf during the 20th session in Geneva in 2018. She has published in The Palgrave Encyclopedia of the Possible, Disability Studies Quarterly, Review of Disability Studies: An International Journal, among others. In 2018, she co-edited, with dr Natalia Pamuła and dr Marta Usiekniewicz, a special issue of Studia de Cultura devoted to disability studies in Poland. In 2021, she co-wrote, with dr Marta Sałkowska, Magdalena Kocejko and Angelika Greniuk, a book “The (Non)Attendance List: Disability in School Textbooks” (publisher Collegium Civitas). Her op-eds appeared in Ms. Magazine (co-written with Suzannah Phillips), ngo.pl, niepelnosprawni.pl, OKO.press, among others. In 2019, she received a title of a UN CRPD Ambassador – an award, which was presented by the Polish Ombudsman, Professor Adam Bodnar, for “educational, scholarly and activist initiatives aimed at advancement of human rights and the United Nation Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.”
